Parents are Heroes!
PARENTS ARE HEROES!
There have been few crises in the world that compare to the devastation COVID19 has or will cause. To those of you that have been parents through this crisis, I would like to devote this blog to you.
Currently, parents are the foundation that is keeping the world solid and all of its children surviving and safe on a daily basis. You play a critical role. The greatest resource any country has are its people and you are caring for those we hold nearest and dearest to our hearts, our children.
I would like to thank each of you as parents for the heroic job you have done in protecting, caring for, and teaching your children despite the massive chaos and stress you experience on a daily basis. I know many of you are trying to maintain your jobs while homeschooling and caring for your children. Some are dealing with the extreme anxiety of being on the frontlines while others have experienced the stress of losing your jobs. Many have tragically lost loved ones and friends to the virus. Despite everything going on in the world and the havoc it has caused to your spirit, you are still carrying on the heroic job of being a rock for your children.
Tonight, before you go to bed, take a good long look at the person in the mirror and thank yourself for being a parent. You are one of the world’s greatest heroes!

Dr. Michele Havens
Dr. Michele Havens received her Ed.D. degree from Rutgers University. She is certified in DIR/Floortime and is BCBA certified. She is a Professor Emeritus from Kean University and Montclair State University. Dr. Havens has provided training and services for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities from birth through adulthood for the last 40 years. She has also been a facilitator of several parent and sibling support groups.
